Role and Function:
1. As its name
implies, the Parish Pastoral Council is to be concerned
under the direction of the pastor with the life of the
parish. Areas of Pastoral life include:
a) Liturgical life, i.e.,
music, maintenance of the church, wine, water, vestments,
sacred vessels, candles, liturgical ministers (readers,
servers, cantors, choir, ushers);
b) Religious education of children, young persons, and
adults;
c) Pastoral care for the sick, elderly, and handicapped;
d) Preparation of those involved in the reception of the
Holy Mysteries (Sacraments) of Baptism and Chrismation, Holy
First Communion, and Crowning (Marriage);
e) Care of immigrants and economically disadvantaged
persons;
f) Promotion of ecumenism;
g) Fostering bonds of friendship with non-Christians.
2. It is the
competency of the Pastoral Council to advise and cooperate
with the Pastor in the Pastoral care of the parish. As such,
the Pastoral Council serves as a permanent structure for
constructive dialogue among the clergy, religious and laity.
3. The Pastoral
Council is to provide leadership, counsel, resources and
encouragement to the apostolic and spiritual growth of all
parishioners.
4. The Pastoral Council is to serve as a coordinating
body for Parish organizations and activities, with the
exception of the Stewardship Council.
5. All members of the Pastoral Council must maintain
the confidentiality of the deliberations of the council,
especially with respect to privacy and personal reputations.
Meetings:
1. Meetings of the
Parish Council are to be held in the parish facilities or at
another convenient place as determined by the Chairperson
with the prior approval of the Pastor.
2. The Pastoral Council is to meet at least once
every thirty days.
3. Advanced notification of the meetings are to be
published in the parish bulletin.
4. Unless determined otherwise by the Chairperson,
meetings of the Pastoral Council are public and all
parishioners are free to attend.
5. With the prior approval of the Pastor, the
Chairperson can convoke a special meeting of the Pastoral
Council. Members are to be given seven (7) days notice and a
quorum of a simple majority is required for the meeting to
be conducted.
6. In order for a meeting to be conducted, two-thirds
of the members of the Pastoral Council must be present.
7. The Parish Pastoral Council meetings are to be
conducted in conformity with Robert's Rules of Order.
8. Summaries of the meetings of the Pastoral Council
are to be reported to the Parish in a timely manner.

1. With
the prior approval of the Pastor, the Chairperson can
establish committees responsible for specific Parish
programs.
2.
With the prior approval of the Pastor, the Chairperson is to
appoint Committee Chairpersons and Members.

St. Jude Committees
We Always Welcome New
Members for the Following Committees:
SOCIAL COMMITTEE:
will organize community events which will help bring and bond people
together.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE: will organize events to raise funds needed
for church. These funds will be used for future building projects,
church expenses, church activities and education expenses.
BUILDING COMMITTEE: will
find a place to worship, plan a new building or renovate an old one, and
Real Estate.
CHILDREN COMMITTEE: will
organize Religious Education for children as well as Arabic Classes, and
this committee will work with another committee which will organize
social and fun events for the children.
OUTREACH COMMITTEE: will be
in charge of reaching out to community members. The goal of the church
is to bring all faithful together, to have an accurate census, and to
keep in touch with the various members. Also this committee will be in
charge of keeping the church WEBSITE updated in order to make events and
ongoing activities available to everyone.
LITURGICAL COMMITTEE: this
committee will include the Choir, Ushers, Lectors, and Altar Boys. The
goal of this committee is to make the church services an inviting
experience for parishioners and visitors. It will organize the various
services and encourage the participation of church members.
YOUTH COMMITTEE: this group
will be organizing spiritual, social and fun events for our youth in
order to bring them together, keep them under the church wings, and to
make their gathering a time of faith sharing, cultural celebration and
joyful encounters.
* Note that all the
above committees will be working together hand in hand with the priest.
